Description
Description
600 lb capacity built around a reinforced heavy-duty platform
The Merits Atlantis is a rear-wheel-drive heavy-duty power wheelchair built around a 600 lb weight capacity. Four seat posts reinforce the seating structure, creating a substantial frame designed specifically for higher-capacity use.
Extra-wide seating can be configured around the rider

The Atlantis is available with 24" or 26" seat-width options, while seat depth can be adjusted from 20" to 22" in 1-inch increments. Its extra-wide seat and high backrest (21.25" backrest height) provide the more substantial seating dimensions expected from a heavy-duty chair.
The backrest can semi-recline up to 135°, while height-adjustable flip-up armrests provide additional positioning flexibility.
High-power motors are designed for demanding inclines
The Atlantis uses high-power in-line motors, which Merits specifically states help the chair negotiate 10° uphill ramps. Two 75Ah Group 24 AGM batteries support a driving range of up to 32 miles per charge, giving the chair substantial range alongside its heavy-duty construction.
Pneumatic tires add ride compliance to the heavy-duty base

The chair rides on 9-inch pneumatic front tires and 12-inch pneumatic drive tires. Pneumatic construction allows the tires themselves to absorb some surface irregularities, complementing the Atlantis's larger, reinforced platform.
Rear anti-tip wheels are included, along with a seat belt and reflectors for additional everyday equipment.
An extra-wide footplate complements the larger seating system

A broad footplate provides additional room at the front of the chair and incorporates a handle opening for easier handling when needed.
Combined with the wider seating, flip-up armrests, and heavy-duty frame, the Atlantis is designed around accommodating a larger seating configuration rather than maintaining the compact dimensions of a standard power wheelchair.
Heavy-duty capability comes with substantial size and weight
The Atlantis weighs 304 lbs total, with a 167 lb heaviest piece. Its 31.5-inch turning radius also reflects the additional space required by a chair designed around 600 lb capacity and extra-wide seating.
If you plan to transport it regularly, a compatible vehicle lift can make loading and traveling with the chair much more practical without requiring you to manually handle its substantial weight.
